Job Description
Title: Utility Technician
Reports to: Area Supervisor
Department: Field Operations
Exemption Status: Non-exempt
Location: Decatur, TX
Primary Focus:
Perform all supporting functions on natural gas gathering and compression equipment as directed by the Area Supervisor to optimize throughput. This is a position designed to create a learning platform by direct hands-on training with the help of qualified employees and experts in their field.
Key Accountabilities:
· Performs all job functions within the Safety and Environmental policies of Colt Midstream, LLC and Governmental laws and orders
· Job tasks include but not limited to painting, mowing, line walking, cleaning compressor station, wiping oil, sweeping, washing equipment, assisting mechanics, I&E technicians, Communications, Field Operators, and the Corrosion group. This employee will also help with parts inventory
Physical Demands:
· While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; feel and reach with hands and arms; the employee is required to reach with hands and arms above his head as well as stoop and kneel to reach items below his normal reach. Working in all types of weather conditions as needed
Work Environment:
· Works mostly with other employees but does work occasionally without supervision
· Can occasionally be subjected to on-call needs 24 hr/day such as emergency situations response and equipment malfunctions
· Company Vehicle will be assigned to the employee, but the vehicle will reside at company offices during non-working hours
· Occasional long hours due to tight deadlines
· Must be able to remain calm and focused during emergency or high stress situations
· Frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts
· Work in high, precarious places
· Work near and with various chemicals used for the processing and gathering of Natural Gas
· The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions (non-weather); fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration
· The noise level in the work environment may be above 90 dBA. Must be able to use hearing protection
· Expected to work well with others, and treat others with respect
Qualifications:
Education:
· High School Diploma/GED required
Experience & Skill
· Some basic computer skills are a plus
· Desire to learn new skills and grow into new roles
· Valid driver’s license and excellent vehicle driving record
· Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
· Self-motivated and driven
· High integrity
