Senior Power BI Developer
What You’ll Do - Build and maintain high-quality Power BI reports and dashboards that help drive business decisions.
- Write and optimize DAX measures to handle complex business logic.
- Work with DirectQuery, LiveConnections, and composite models to support real-time reporting needs.
- Connect Power BI to Azure Databricks and help model the data for analysis.
- Use basic SQL (e.g., SELECT, JOIN, WHERE) to prepare and explore data.
- Understand and manage Power BI deployment pipelines — including workspace structure, staging environments, and deployment rules.
- Collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to turn requirements into clean, actionable visuals.
- Assist with the use or setup of custom visuals when out-of-the-box charts don’t meet business needs.
- Keep an eye on performance — troubleshoot issues, optimize queries, and improve load times.
- Share your knowledge and mentor junior team members on best practices.
What We’re Looking For - 5+ years of experience working with Power BI.
- Deep understanding of DAX, including advanced calculations and performance tuning.
- Solid experience using DirectQuery, LiveConnections, and composite models.
- Experience working with Azure Databricks.
- Able to write and understand basic SQL queries.
- Familiarity with Power BI custom visuals, including how to use and troubleshoot them.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI deployment pipelines and managing reports across environments.
- Good understanding of Power BI Service (workspaces, datasets, refresh schedules, permissions).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Nice to Have - Microsoft Power BI certification (PL-300 or similar).
- Exposure to other Azure services like Data Lake or Synapse.
- Experience embedding Power BI into other applications is a plus.
