MoboTrex has an opportunity to join our growing organization as a full-time Manufacturing Enginee r at our Pflugerville, TX facility located north of Austin.

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and ensuring the highest quality standards for our products. This role involves designing, developing, and implementing manufacturing solutions from concept to production, working closely with cross-functional teams including design engineering, quality, production, and supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Optimization & Improvement:
    • Identify, analyze, and implement improvements to existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste (lean manufacturing principles), increase throughput, and lower costs.
    • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling.
    • Conduct time studies, process mapping, and value stream mapping to identify bottlenecks and areas for improvement.
    • Utilize data analysis and statistical methods (e.g., SPC, Six Sigma) to monitor process performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM):
    • Collaborate with design engineers during the product development phase to ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
    • Provide input on material selection, tolerances, assembly methods, and testability.
  • Tooling & Equipment:
    • Specify, justify, procure, and implement new manufacturing equipment, machinery, and tooling.
    • Design and develop fixtures, jigs, and other manufacturing aids.
  • Documentation & Standardization:
    • Create and maintain detailed manufacturing documentation, including work instructions, process specifications, routings, and bill of materials (BOMs).
    • Establish and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes.
  • Safety:
    • Ensure all manufacturing processes and equipment adhere to safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Collaboration:
    • Work closely with production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and provide technical support.
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering. Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3 + years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing, electronics assembly environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., CREO, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Inventor, CATIA).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with CNC machining, injection molding, additive manufacturing, welding.

Physical Requirements (if Applicable)

  • Ability to stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel for extended periods.
  • May require occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with varying noise levels and temperatures.
