Low Voltage Technician — Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Low Voltage Technician . The ideal candidate will have experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting low voltage systems—including security, fire alarms, access control, audio-visual, and structured cabling solutions.

Responsibilities

• Install, test, and maintain low voltage systems including data, voice, and video cabling

• Diagnose and repair malfunctions in systems such as CCTV, intrusion alarms, and access control

• Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to complete installations

• Pull and terminate cables with precision (Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optics, etc.)

• Work safely with tools, ladders, and lifts, following all safety regulations

• Collaborate with project managers and other technicians to ensure timely completion

• Document work completed and communicate updates clearly with stakeholders

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school preferred

• Proven experience in low voltage electrical work or structured cabling

• Knowledge of NEC standards and local building codes

• Ability to read blueprints and system layouts

• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills

• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record

• Certifications (e.g., BICSI, NICET, OSHA 10/30) a plus

P hysical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, crouch, and climb ladders

• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights

• Standing or walking for extended periods
