Job Description

Ever wonder what a school could look like if you designed it? Wildflower Schools Northern California is seeking innovative, equity-minded, entrepreneurial teachers who are looking to start and lead their own small-scale Montessori schools in Stockton, CA.

Were seeking innovative, equity-minded, entrepreneurial teachers to join our 22-23 cohort to start and lead their own small-scale Montessori schools for our flagship site in Stockton, CA serving children ages 0-6, starting in the Fall of 2023 (Toddler Program) and Fall of 2024 (Primary Program).

We believe that teachers will reach their fullest potential when they lead, and the school will also reach its fullest potential when teachers are leading and making choices that will best serve their schools and their communities. We embody this value through our Teacher-Led model, where Wildflower teachers serve as both the classroom guide and the administrator of their own micro school (20-30 students). Our teachers have extraordinary autonomy to extend the prepared environment in any direction to serve the needs of families, children and educators. The vision and model for the school will be yours to shape within Wildflowers nine principles.

We are actively seeking experienced preschool and elementary trained Montessori teachers who want to join our 2022-23 cohort with the goal of launching schools in the Fall of 2023 or Fall of 2024. Our primary expansion areas are Alameda, San Francisco, and Santa Clara and surrounding counties.

ABOUT WILDFLOWER:
Wildflower Schools are a decentralized network of micro-schools that serve racially and socioeconomically diverse communities with an exceptional Montessori education across 12 states and Puerto Rico and Washington, DC. Our schools are very small - typically serving 20-30 students. They are committed to equity, and unite diverse communities of children, families and teachers in a shared pursuit of interconnectedness, justice and peace. You will have access to financial support, direct guidance from Wildflowers support team, and will join a local community of fellow Montessori teacher innovators as you spend approximately 12-18 months exploring the possibility of opening your own school in your county. As schools open, Operations Guides assist Teacher Leaders in harnessing public funding streams such as vouchers and child care assistance programs and developing tiered tuition models to ensure each school can serve at least 23 families with below median incomes while providing above market compensation. Today, the average compensation for Wildflower preschool teachers is typically 75% higher than compensation for average preschool teachers and 25% higher than the average child care director - and can be considerably higher than that in high cost of living communities.

WHAT YOU BRING:
- A deep commitment to authentic Montessori - Your 5+ years of experience in a Montessori or child-focused, infant-toddler, primary or elementary environment will position you to be a highly effective facilitator of childrens learning.
- Entrepreneurial leadership - You are flexible, open-minded, see opportunity in obstacles, and are energized by using creativity and resourcefulness to anticipate challenges and create solutions to problems.
- Commitment to serving diverse and multifaceted communities - You are eager to expand access to Montessori for racially and socioeconomically diverse communities and are committed to supporting the development of intersectional communities.
- Generosity of spirit. Willingness to work hard - You have the aptitude, stamina, time, and appetite to rise to the challenge of starting and leading your own school. You will not be alone, but you will be busy.
- A desire to learn and grow.
- We welcome candidates fluent in Spanish who can help connect with families that we will serve.
