Job title: Certified Medical Assistant

Location: Houston, TX, 77024

Job Duration: 02+ months with possible extension

Shift timing: Day Shift - 07:00 AM End Time: 06:00 PM
Evening Shift -  03:00 PM End Time: 12:00 AM

Job Description:

• Responsible for assisting providers in the administration of patient care in assigned clinical areas.
• Assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes.
• Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, etc.)
• Prepare patients for examinations and assist with routine procedures
• Administer injections or medications as directed by physicians
• Collect and prepare laboratory specimens
• Perform basic laboratory tests on-site
• Update and maintain electronic health records (EHR)
• Schedule patient appointments and manage front-office tasks
• Answer phones and respond to patient inquiries
• Assist in maintaining a clean and organized clinical environment
• Follow all safety, infection control, and HIPAA protocols
• Also performs general administrative duties in accordance with TJC, CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and government standards, as well as company policies and procedures.
• All patient care is under the direction of a physician and within the scope of a medical assistant.

Must Have:

• Epic EHR

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a Medical Assistant training program
• Current certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, or NCMA)
• CPR/BLS certification (preferred or required by employer)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology and procedures
